Help For Heroes

Commando March, Spean Bridge, 2009.

On Saturday 4th April 2009, the annual commando commemorative march will take place. The march will start at Achnacarry House at 10am and finish at the Commando memorial at Spean Bridge, a distance of approximately 7 miles.
This year we are raising funds for ‘Help For Heroes’, to support them in their wonderful work in helping our wounded armed forces personnel.

This march will be the 4th to take place. Re-enactors and veterans from all over the UK and Europe take part wearing period World War Two uniforms and equipment accompanied by a selection of original vehicles.
There will be a wreath laying service at the Commando memorial, the marchers will then carry on to the railway station.
Last year approximately 85 people joined the march portraying Army commando units, RAF servicing commandos and US Rangers. We also had support from the ATS and Land Army!
Mr Leslie Whipps, 85 year old veteran of 9 commando has taken part each year and really sets the pace!

With our armed forces being committed abroad and risking their lives, all donations to this worthwhile charity are most welcome.
